Cost Control Manager
Job Purpose
The Cost Control Manager responsible for driving optimal financial efficiency by overseeing costs in trucking, custom clearance, and carrier services. This role entails implementing strategies to minimize expenses while maintaining service quality, conducting comprehensive financial analyses, and supervising the overall cost control process to ensure efficient workflows and address operational challenges.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the process of acquiring supplier invoices for services rendered.
- Ensure timely and accurate reconciliation of invoices with support documents, service scope, and purchasing prices.
- Verify that all costs comply with company policies, agreements, and established cost rates.
- Identify and address any discrepancies or errors in invoices.
- Stay informed of current market trends and updates in cost rates for relevant services.
- Analyze market data to compare our buying rates with industry benchmarks.
- Recommend strategies for cost reduction, such as identifying alternative service providers or negotiating better terms with existing suppliers.
- Provide management with regular reports and insights on cost control initiatives and their impact on profitability.
- Continuously review and improve the invoicing process to identify opportunities for optimization and faster processing times.
- Develop and implement cost control procedures and internal controls to ensure accuracy and minimize errors.
- Work collaboratively with other departments (e.g., Finance, Planning) to ensure smooth integration and communication within the invoicing cycle.
- Provide effective leadership and guidance to the cost control team, fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Develop and mentor team members, ensuring their skills and knowledge are aligned with best practices in cost control and invoicing procedures.
- Delegate tasks and prioritize workload to ensure efficient completion of all cost control activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in a cost control or pricing role, with experience in the logistics or transportation industry is a must.
- Proven track record of successfully managing and leading a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel is a must).
- Strong understanding of financial principles and cost control methodologies.
- Experience in analyzing market trends and cost data is a plus.
- Knowledge of invoicing procedures and best practices is preferred.
